Ashley Park, 2021

"Ashley Park" was inspired by me wanting to try something a little different. The idea with this piece was to use three colours, white (white of the paper) for the highlights, red for the mid tones and black for the shadows and darkest tones. The time of year in the image is spring when many of the large trees still had no leaves so you can see their form giving a sense of individuality. The smaller shrubbier trees were full of white blossoms. I enjoyed the challenge of creating this piece using only 3 colours and whether I could convey a peaceful atmosphere despite the red.
