Gonçalo, 2022

This is Gonçalo a young man I met in Islington. As we were talking, I noticed what amazing bone structure he had, and he kindly allowed me to photograph him. I wanted to try something different and unconventional (from previous paintings) so I decided to use 3 colours, but not mix them. I also wanted the colours as saturated as possible. I used a bright yellow for the light tones, pink for the mid tones and a phthalocyanine green for the dark tones which was very effective together and seemed to suit his personality.
