"Intersection" is one of my favourite pieces. It is the intersection below the M25 motorway at New Haw, Surrey. I like this area because of the contrasting elements – as if the viewer is looking at two different paintings. On one side is the loud, dirty, imposing and heavy concrete M25 – our modern transportation system, beautified with that rebellious, urban graffiti versus the quiet stillness of the old waterway. This piece incorporates aspects of my interest in the connection between nature and humans, the things we build and leave behind. The motorway represents the fast paced modern life and the canal system indicates a transportation system from our past, now incorporated into a more peaceful & tranquil setting.
