This piece was inspired by how prominently the central leaf stood apart from the rest. I liked that these leaves had similarities yet stark differences; differences marked by the leaf originating from a specific tree, or where it was in its decay cycle. It made me think about appreciating aspects that set us apart. I also saw the beauty of impermanence through colour and form. The collection of leaves illustrates a cycle of decay, some further along than others, yet each leaf demonstrates a beauty of its own; from a mottled appearance and curled misshapen structure to the vibrant colour of the central leaf and the surrounding ivy.
