This painting was inspired by a recent trip to Dungeness which can be so bleak with its windswept beaches and constantly changing weather; but I liked how the sun lit part of the boat as it was setting. The contrasting dark clouds were expansive and moving quickly creating an energy, I wanted to reflect in the painting. The title is a response to a feeling of aloneness or solitude – but yet contentment - which can accompany the atmosphere created in this place.
