This was from the Markartsteg Lock Bridge in Salzburg, Austria named after the 19th century Historicist painter Hans Makart. It has tens of thousands of locks - my cropped picture alone has more than 50 locks. It is a lovely thought that so many couples - friends, lovers - declare their love, affection, loyalty through these locks, presumably to last forever - each one with a story behind it. But I still couldn’t help but wonder if any of these couples are still together.
